Blue Bay, a popular sea resort in the south, has got its name from its bluish water. Ancient governors of the island were fascinated by Blue Bay where they spent wonderful days.

Blue Bay is famous for its Marine Park, the density of corals found there make it valuable and so unique. Researchers have been able to identify about 50 different species of corals and more than 50 different species of fishes belonging to 25 families. The presence of Seriatopora hystrix at the site is to be noted, for it is a rare species for Mauritius.
